Pig and Poultry Recruitment for Units and Integrators
Talent Agri handles poultry recruitment and pig recruitment for producers, integrators and the feed and technical businesses that serve them.
Intensive livestock units run around the clock, and the people who manage them carry responsibility for animal welfare, biosecurity and performance every day of the year. We recruit managers and specialists who understand that responsibility and are ready to take it on.

Roles across pig and poultry production
On the production side, a poultry farm manager might run broiler, layer or breeder sites, each with its own rhythm. Broiler managers deal with frequent crop cycles, placement and depopulation; layer managers focus on flock health, egg quality and collection; breeder managers balance bird condition with fertility and hatchability. In pigs, the work divides between breeding and farrowing units, where stockmanship around sows and piglets is critical, and finishing units, where growth, feed conversion and health monitoring drive results.
The sector also needs commercial and technical people. Sales and technical managers covering pig and poultry customers, and monogastric feed sales representatives, need to understand production well enough to diagnose performance problems on farm and recommend a credible solution.
- Poultry farm managers for broiler, layer and breeder sites
- Pig unit managers for breeding and finishing operations
- Sales and technical managers for pig and poultry customers
- Monogastric feed sales representatives
What makes these roles hard to fill
The working pattern puts many people off. Units need cover at weekends and overnight, alarms have to be answered, and a ventilation or water failure cannot wait until morning. Strong candidates want to understand the on-call rota, the size of the team behind them and whether housing is provided on or near the site before they will consider a move.
Biosecurity adds another layer. Shower-in and shower-out procedures, restrictions on contact with other livestock and strict visitor controls shape daily life and even what a candidate can do outside work. We make sure people understand these rules from the first conversation, and we look for evidence that they follow them with discipline.
- On-call rota and weekend cover arrangements
- Biosecurity rules and personal livestock restrictions
- Bird or pig welfare record and audit experience
- Familiarity with ventilation, feeding and environmental controls
- Accommodation on or near the unit
How a pig or poultry search works
01
Understand the unit and its routine
We learn the species, system, stock numbers, team structure, cover arrangements and the biosecurity regime the new person will work under.
02
Approach experienced stock managers
We contact managers and senior stockpeople already running comparable sites, taking care that conversations respect their current employer's biosecurity requirements.
03
Assess stockmanship and records
We ask about mortality and performance management, welfare audits, disease challenges handled and how candidates lead a small team through long shifts.
04
Agree a workable package
Housing, on-call payments and time off often decide the outcome. We help you put together an offer that a capable manager can commit to for the long term.
Choosing how to recruit
Unit and farm manager roles generally suit permanent recruitment, which is charged only on a successful appointment and includes support for the first 12 weeks. Production directors and senior technical roles across several sites may need a retained search with a dedicated consultant.
For stockperson and assistant roles, targeted advertising on agricultural job boards can bring in applicants who are already searching, and we handle the initial screening.

Pig & poultry recruitment questions
Do you recruit for broiler, layer and breeder units?
Yes. Each system needs different experience, so we match candidates to the type of bird and production cycle they have managed rather than treating all poultry roles as the same.
How do you handle biosecurity when candidates visit our site?
We agree visit arrangements with you in advance and make candidates aware of your rules, including any stand-down period after contact with other livestock. Some first interviews can take place off site.
Can you find sales staff who understand monogastric nutrition?
Yes. For pig and poultry sales and technical roles we look for people who can discuss feed conversion, health and performance credibly with producers, not just sell on price.
Need someone to run your unit?
A gap in management on a pig or poultry site puts pressure on welfare, performance and your remaining team.
Tell us about the unit and the cover you need. We will give you an honest view of who is available and what it will take to bring them on board.
