About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong commercial growing experience who is looking to take responsibility for crop performance within a modern protected cropping environment.
The successful candidate will be involved in the day-to-day management of the crop, helping to maximise yield, quality, plant health and overall production performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management and monitoring of commercial crops.
- Monitor crop health, development, yield and quality.
- Manage and adjust irrigation and nutrition programmes.
- Monitor environmental conditions and make appropriate growing decisions.
- Identify and respond to pest and disease issues.
- Support crop protection and IPM programmes.
- Maintain accurate growing and crop records.
- Analyse crop performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with operational, technical and production teams.
- Support and develop members of the growing team.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, compliance and health & safety.

Qualifications & experience
- Previous commercial growing experience.
- Experience within protected cropping; soft-fruit experience would be particularly advantageous.
- Good knowledge of irrigation, nutrition and crop management.
- Understanding of climate-controlled growing environments.
- Knowledge of crop protection and IPM.
- Confidence working with crop data and growing systems.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
Candidate requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
