Talent Agri is recruiting for two complementary dairy roles on an all-year-round calving farm in South West Scotland: a Senior Herdsperson and a Calf Rearer / Milker.

This opportunity would suit a couple looking to work together, or two applicants happy to share the house provided. A very competitive package is available, with an immediate start possible.

Senior Herdsperson

We are looking for an experienced dairy professional with strong practical cow management skills and AI experience. You should be confident taking responsibility, recognising health and fertility issues, and maintaining consistent standards across the herd.

The role is expected to cover:

• Day-to-day herd care and management.
• Milking and monitoring udder health and milk quality.
• Heat detection, AI and fertility management.
• Supporting calving throughout the year.
• Identifying and responding to cow health and welfare concerns.
• Maintaining accurate herd records.
• Working with the farm team to organise and complete daily routines.

The precise responsibilities, level of authority and working arrangements will be explained during the initial call.

Calf Rearer / Milker

The second role will focus on calf rearing and milking, supporting the daily care of calves and the wider dairy operation.

The role is expected to include:

• Feeding calves and monitoring their health and development.
• Maintaining clean, well-bedded calf accommodation.
• Following agreed feeding, hygiene and animal health routines.
• Identifying concerns promptly and communicating them to the team.
• Sharing milking duties and maintaining parlour hygiene.
• Supporting other daily dairy tasks as agreed.

The balance between calf rearing, milking and other duties will be discussed with suitable applicants.

About You

For the Senior Herdsperson position, strong dairy experience, practical cow management ability and AI skills are required.

For the Calf Rearer / Milker position, relevant calf rearing and milking experience would be welcomed. A careful, consistent approach to livestock care is essential.

Both applicants should be reliable, communicate well and take pride in animal welfare, cleanliness and completing daily routines to a good standard.
